CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

   Extensively trained in General and Neonatal Paediatrics at SHO, Registrar and Senior Registrar level. Practising Consultant in these areas since January 1999.

   Extensively trained in clinical Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at all levels.  Practising Consultant in these sub-specialities since January 1999. 

 

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

   Trained, as a full-time Research Fellow, in basic and clinical Paediatric Endocrinology.   Worked largely on the investigation of the physiology of Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides (GHRPs).

   Awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine by the University of London following the approval of my thesis “Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides: Physiological Studies in Man”.

 

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

   During my training years, lectured regularly on topics in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Endocrinology to undergraduate students as well as juniors doctors I worked with.  Provided undergraduate as well postgraduate clinical teaching for many years, and continue to do so.

   Invited to lecture on numerous occasions on topics of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes during my Research Fellowship years, my Clinical Lecturer years and as a Consultant.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE and MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

   Throughout my training I was actively involved in the organisation of audit meetings and projects, junior doctors' teaching programmes, hospital grand rounds, medical students' assessments, perinatal mortality meetings, directorate meetings and junior doctors' rotas.

   Attended in-house management courses organised by UCLMS and GOSH. Attended numerous management training courses as part of my CPD at Northwick Park Hospital (NPH)

   UK representative for Trainees in Paediatric Endocrinology 1996-1998

   Team Leader for the redeveloping of paediatric in-patient facilities at NPH (£3M project).

   Lead Clinician for negotiating the provision of paediatric services for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, a tertiary referral unit for complex orthopaedic surgery.

   Vice Chairman/Training Advisor, Endocrinology CSAC (October 2000 – date).

   Chairman, Paediatric Sub-Committee of the Portland Hospital (Jan 05 – date)
